Mission Statement:

Senior Sitting Services goal is to reach out to homebound and Nursing Home elderly to help relieve loneliness through friendly visits and companionship. We focus on individuals who may be, frail, isolated, homebound, recovering from illness or surgery, or have limited support from friends or family.

Senior Sitting Services provides these services to maintain the client's independence and to avoid long term assisted care facilities to improve the quality of their life and the lives of their families.

The services Senior Sitting Services Companions provide helps enrich the lives of the people they serve - physically, emotionally and socially.

Caregivers aren't necessarily full-time care providers, they can also be anyone who helps an elderly citizen perform a task, manage personal care or make decisions.

As the American population ages, the number of caregivers and the demands placed upon them will grow. Currently, about one in four American families care for someone over the age of fifty. Approximately 75% of caregivers are women and two-thirds of caregivers in the United States have jobs in addition to caring for another person.

Introducing Myself and Senior Sitting Services

Dear Neighbors,

I would like to introduce myself and share some information about myself and the business that I offer in our community and the surrounding areas. I run a business that assists the elderly. I offer companionship and assistance programs in a wide variety of ways to enhance the lives of our aging neighbors. My name is Patricia McGurk. I was raised and now live in New Lenox. I’m grateful to call myself a caregiver. After attending New Lenox Schools I studied at the College of DuPage in their certificate program for “General Counseling”. My first position in the Human Services Field consisted of working for the Glen Ellen YWCA Rape Crisis Prevention and Child Abuse Prevention program division. Some of my volunteer service consists of Food Pantries Volunteer and Teen Support Group Leader. Later in my professional career I became a Medical Biller, which led me to start my own business in the care of the elderly community.

My business, Senior Sitting Services’ mission is to enhance and fulfill the lives of the aging population in our communities through loving care and trusted professionalism. Currently about one in four American families care for someone over the age of fifty. Approximately 75% of caregivers are women and two-thirds of caregivers in the United States have jobs in addition to caring for another person. I myself am a part of these statistics. Along with other members of my own family, together we have cared for my brother who sustained a massive head injury 16 years ago. During my high school years my father was paralyzed by a stroke and survived four years, relearning the basic fundamentals of eating, personal care, and socialization. It was from these situations and others that I discovered my passion to care for others.

It is my hope when my neighbors find themselves with such challenges, they will remember there is help and no one is truly alone when they have neighbors like Senior Sitting Services. We are here for you and your family.

Best Wishes,

Patricia McGurk
